Texas Bank Robbery Escalates Into Possible Hostage Situation, Nearby School in Lockdown
WAXAHACHIE, Texas (CBS/AP) An elementary school in Waxahachie, Texas, about 30 miles south of Dallas, has been locked down as police officers surrounded a nearby bank that reportedly had been robbed.
On Friday morning, police officers could be shown surrounding the Vintage Bank, where the suspects have holed up, possibly with hostages.
The Waxahachie school district said Friday that Northside Elementary was placed in lockdown as a precautionary measure because it is near the bank.
The district says the front doors of the school are locked and officials are monitoring access to the school. Students were escorted into the school.
