"Taser me, bro" says alleged boat thief, so police do

Darrel Horne, 28 CBS Tampa

(CBS) PIERSON, Fla. - Police complied with a naked Florida man's request to "Taser me. Taser me, bro," after apprehending him for allegedly trying to steal a boat.

CBS Tampa reports Darrel Horne, 28, was arrested Monday by Volusia County police and charged with armed burglary, grand theft and resisting an officer.

Horne and his friend, Matthew Shrider, decided to steal a boat after the truck they were driving ran out of gas, police said.

The Orlando Sentinel reports a neighbor of the boat owner called the victim to inform him of the theft. He said one of the men was carrying an ax while walking to the dock.

Volusia County Sheriff's spokesman Brandon Haught said, "They then decided to take the boat from the dock on Richardson Lane. There were no paddles in the boat, so the men found a piece of wood to use."

Officers arrived at the scene and ordered Shrider and Horne to come back to the dock with the boat.

"Horne started to curse at the deputies and take off his clothes," Haught said. "He then dove in and swam in the opposite direction, cursing and making hand gestures as he went."

Horne was caught, naked, in a wooded area after a helicopter and boat were deployed to search for him. He was put in the back of a patrol car and started kicking his friend, Shrider. After authorities demanded he stop, he refused, saying, "Taser me. Taser me, bro."

Police did exactly that.

Later, Horne said he was sorry for his behavior and thanked police for using the Taser on him.

The two men are being held in jail in Daytona Beach.
