Tanking AIG Lobbied For U.S.-India Nuclear Deal
Even as insurance giant AIG was tanking, it was lobbying Congress to pass a deal on trade in civilian nuclear equipment with India.
In the end, the lobbying effort was more successful than the company itself. AIG has nearly burned through an $85 billion-plus bailout from the government. But President Bush went on to sign the agreement between the U.S. and India into law.
