Taliban: "We Do Not Intend To Carry Out Attacks Inside Germany"

The Taliban denied reports by Agence France Presse (AFP) that it had threatened attacks inside Germany. Taliban "correspondent" Abdullah al Wazir said the German Focus magazine had referred to an article about the bombing of the German embassy in Kabul published in Taliban's online magazine, al Somoud, saying that it contained threats to carry out attacks inside Germany.

Al Wazir said such claim had no foundation, adding that the group, through its article, aimed to influence Germans to put pressure on their leaders to pullout German troops from Afghanistan. The "Taliban correspondent" urged AFP to check and verify the facts before publishing misleading news item.

This denial comes at a time of increased propaganda messages from German and German-speaking militants. Last January, Bekkay Harrach, a German citizen from Bonn, released an Internet video in which he expressed his desire to carry out a suicide operation. He did not specify whether he intends to carry it out in Afghanistan or in Germany.
