Take An Energy-Saver Tour Of Your House!

Taking a walk through your home with an eye toward conserving energy can save hundreds of dollars a year.

Home improvement expert Danny Lipford toured one house on The Early Show Saturday and found numerous potential energy-wasters. He also demonstrated simple solutions he says could save the average homeowner $500 a year or more!

The savings could come to a-quarter of your total utilities bill, and cost you next-to-nothing.

Among them:

  • Turn your thermostat down four degrees in winter or up four degrees in summer to save -- $110
  • Change fifurnace lters every three months
  • Clean your lint filters and vent pipe of your clothes dryer to save
  • Use your clothes washer and dishwasher only with full loads to save
  • Turn your water heater down to 120 degrees and wrap all exposed hot water lines to save
  • Close drapes and blinds from windows exposed to the sun
  • Be sure all windows and doors are properly caulked and weather-sealed

Total savings in one year based on a national average utility bill of $1900: $500
