Ta-Ta, Tanya!

Burdened with a sour stomach and a poor sense of direction, Tanya Vance was cut loose from the Chuay Gahn tribe this week on "Survivor: Thailand."

Tanya, who spent most of her short time in Thailand throwing up, appeared on CBS' The Early Show and spoke about her experiences, including the embarrassment of being shown repeatedly retching on television

I was "very dehydrated," she told guest anchor Gretchen Carlson. And, "the camera didn't even reflect the number of times that I got sick. So I mean, I was just very dehydrated.

She was asked if it was true that she had asked her fellow teammates to vote her off.

"I don't think necessarily think that I asked. Because, of course, I wanted to win," she said. "I more or less told them that I understood why they were voting for me, and that I felt like I was the weakest link on the team right then and there."

Tanya also admitted that when she was selected for the Chuay Gahn tribe she wasn't tickled pink, because she felt the other teammates were too old.

"The other team looked so much more athletic, and, you know, that I would have more in common with."

But she changed her mind.

"Of course, now I realize I was on the best team."

She continued: "I had a good time. It was a great experience, a great group of people."

Vance was grateful for the shelter her tribe had.

"The cave was amazing. You know, it was huge," she explained. "There was plenty of room in it. And you know, we kept dry and it was a lot cooler in the cave than actually, you know, being outside. So we avoided the direct heat. It was just a great thing for us."

She said she considered herself "very lucky. The water source, that's a different story."

Vance found the monkey near her camp "exciting" and called it "a little friend."

As for the other critters around camp, she heard many of them at night. There was "a lot of rustling around. And you just didn't know what was there. It was so dark you couldn't see anything anyway. That was the only thing that kept me from being really scared not being able to see what was out there," she said.

Vance, who attended college on a track scholarship, was asked how a serious athlete still has trouble surviving in the game.

"Well, I think the key is making sure that you are prepared for the situation," she said. "I think that from day one, I just didn't drink enough water. I was excited about getting there, and, you know, we hadn't found our water source, so I was trying to be frugal with the water supply that we had, which now I see was a bad mistake. But once you get dehydrated, there's nothing you can do, no matter how athletic you are."

In six days, she lost 15 pounds.

She was asked, "How does it feel as an athlete to hear the words, "sweet but sickly?"

"Well, I understood," she replied. "I didn't take it personally. Athletically. I don't think that I demonstrated to my team that I was able to compete. I just think I got so dehydrated, they were afraid in future challenges I wasn't going to be able to help them in the competition."

Mark McEwan wanted to know what made her want to be on "Survivor."

"I love to watch the show," she answered. "Ever since I started watching the first one, I thought, you know, I really want to do this. So just after watching the Africa one, I actually said, 'OK, I'm not going to wait around anymore, just going to send in an application.' It's great to even just get to be on the show."

Asked what she would take away from the experience, Tanya responded, "It was the experience of a lifetime. Six days of camping gone bad is how I like to describe it. But I don't remember being sick at this point. You know, it was a great experience. Got to do lots of fun things in Thailand. So it was a great, rewarding experience."

A lot of other contestants have parlayed their participation on Survivor into other things. Vance was asked where she would you like to take this?

"You know, I don't really have any plans," she answered. "Anything that comes my way, you know, I'm blessed to even have gotten to be on the show. So just take it one day at a time."

And if Hollywood calls, she'd be OK with that. How about appearing in Playboy?

"I don't know about that," she said. "I work with sexually abused children. So I don't think that's a good idea."

Vance also shared a little behind-the-scenes tidbit about being a contestant on "Survivor."

Flying to Thailand, the contestants were all on the same plane. However they weren't allowed to talk or sit with each other. And, they flew coach.
