"Spring Breakers: The Second Coming" in the works

Who's ready for another killer vacation?

A follow-up to last year's hit comedy "Spring Breakers" is currently in development, according to Screen Daily.

But "Spring Breakers: The Second Coming" won't exactly serve as a "part two," in the traditional sense. Some of the original cast members will return, but it's unclear exactly who will be back or in what capacity.

"It's not a direct sequel although there are allusions to some of the characters in the original," said Vincent Maraval, co-chief of Wild Bunch, the company which produced the first film.

The first "Spring Breakers" starred Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson as bored college students who go on a robbery spree with a rapper named Alien, memorably portrayed by Jams Franco.

The film received good reviews, especially for its genre, and made more than six times its production budget at the box office.

Writer and director Harmony Korine will not be returning for the new installment.

"Trainspotting" author Irvine Welsh has penned the script, with Jonas Akerlund set to direct.

This time around, the "Spring Breakers" crew is expected to face off against a group of Christian extremists trying to convert them.
