Small Planes Collide In Florida
Five people are dead after a collision between two small planes at the Sarasota-Bradenton airport in Florida.
Airport spokesman Jim Naiman said one of the planes was taxiing off the runway and the other was preparing to land when they collided about 10:30 a.m. local time.
CBS News Correspondent Howard Arenstein reports one of the planes, a Cessna 152, cleared for takeoff, was rolling. The other, a Cessna 172, had been instructed by controllers to taxi into position and hold short of the runway. But the second plane apparently ran the stop sign and into the path of the first.
The airport is about 50 miles south of Tampa.
