Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has yet to endorse a Republican candidate in this fall's Nevada Senate election, but one candidate may be getting the next best thing -- an endorsement from her father.

Palin's father Chuck Heath has recorded a radio ad for Republican businessman Danny Tarkanian, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. Tarkanian is competing against as many as 14 candidates for the Republican Senate nomination. The winner of the Republican primary will face off against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for the seat he has held since 1987.

"You supported my daughter Sarah Palin, now please join me in supporting another strong conservative: Danny Tarkanian," Heath says in the 60-second ad, according to CNN. "Danny Tarkanian is strongly pro-life, and he will protect our Second Amendment rights. He will fight to cut taxes, slash spending, and end budget-busting pork barrel politics."

In a Review-Journal poll taken in February, Republican Nevada voters favored former state party chairwoman Sue Lowden over Tarkanian 47 percent to 29 percent. The poll also showed that all voters favored both Lowden and Tarkanian over Reid.

Palin will make an appearance in Nevada on March 27, when she will kick off a cross-country Tea Party Express bus tour from Reid's hometown of Searchlight.
