Sarah Palin says she'll sue Azealia Banks over Twitter rant
Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin told People Magazine she plans to sue rapper Azealia Banks over a series of graphic tweets that stemmed from a fake quote from Palin about slavery.
The tweets started Monday after Banks got wind of a satirical news story that quoted Palin as saying, "I'm telling you, I've been saying it for years, but nobody's listening -- slavery wasn't forced onto African-Americans, they accepted it willingly."
The rapper fired of a number of explicit tweets suggesting Palin should be forced to participate in sex acts with black men and that the interactions should be recorded and posted online.
Banks later deleted the posts, apparently after learning the article wasn't real.
Palin posted a response on her Facebook page Tuesday, addressing Banks as "Hey Female Rapper."
She also told People Magazine she would take legal action, claiming it was "on behalf of all reasonable women of every age, race and political leaning."
"I've had enough of the unanswered threats and attacks against my family and me," Palin said in a statement to the magazine. "So, for the first time I'm going to enjoy the only retribution some protected 'celebrities' seem to understand - I'm suing Azealia Banks and can't wait to share my winnings with others who have gone defenseless against lies and dangerous attacks far too long."
Banks posted a lengthy open letter to Palin on her Tumblr account and sent several tweets implying that her comments were simply "making jokes."
