Reports: Ohio siblings killed by father in Israel

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A father in Israel allegedly murdered his two children who were visiting him from Ohio, possibly to get back at their mother in a custody fight over the kids.

According to CBS affiliate WBNS, the victims were Sarah Levy and her brother Yishai Levy, who lived in Columbus, and had arrived in Israel on Wednesday to visit their father.

The children's ages were reported as between 9 and 12.

The Times of Israel reports that the suspect, whose name had not been released, told police that he murdered the children, "so that their mother's life would be over."

Police said he stabbed them both multiple times at his home.

Israeli media report the father kept a journal where he "obsessively" recorded his anger that his children were in the custody of their mother in Columbus following the couple's divorce.

The Times of Israel said the man appeared late Wednesday night at the police station in Ramle and told officers that he had murdered his two children. The paper reported emergency personnel dispatched to the man's home in the nearby community of Yashresh found the two children with multiple stab wounds, and pronounced them dead at the scene.

According to the paper, domestic violence complaints were lodged against the father in 2005 and in 2009, before the couple divorced, and the wife had spent time in a battered women's shelter before the divorce was finalized.

WBNS reported that the children attend the Columbus Torah Academy in Ohio, and that counselors were there on Thursday.
