Police Interrogation: Reasonable Doubt
INTRODUCTION
Phoenix, AZ, September 1999
A beautiful young mother, Judi Eftenoff, died of a stroke caused by cocaine. But the medical examiner, noting cuts and bruises on her body, couldn't determine if it was an accident or murder. Her husband, Brian, had a seemingly airtight alibi, because he was recorded on a casino surveillance tape that night.
CONCLUSION
Brian Eftenoff was convicted for murder and transporting cocaine by mail. He received a 50-year sentence. But 48 Hours consulted a number of experts who disputed the prosecution theory that she was murdered by being force-fed an overdose of cocaine.
