Police: Ex-con shoots, injures neighbor while cleaning gun
CANTON, Ohio -- Authorities say a convicted felon shot and wounded a woman in the apartment below his after a handgun fired while he was cleaning it.
The (Canton) Repository reports that a 43-year-old Canton man was arrested Tuesday night after a 53-year-old woman living beneath him was shot in the chest. She was taken to a hospital where the bullet was removed.
A Canton police lieutenant told the newspaper the woman was in stable condition after surgery.
Police say the man they arrested isn't allowed to have firearms because of a previous felonious assault conviction. The newspaper reports the man is being held on a $50,000 bond and is expected to appear Wednesday in Canton Municipal Court.
