PETA On Quest To Save Spears' Dogs

In an attempt to save the train wreck that is Britney Spears, PETA is basically saying "I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog, too!"

She's lost custody of her kids, now an animal rights group wants Britney Spears to give up her pets.

A spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says the group's president has written an open letter to Kevin Federline encouraging him to pursue custody of Spears' animals.

Michael McGraw says "PETA fears that the dogs may be in danger." He says PETA is particularly concerned about the welfare of her Yorkshire terrier puppy London, which she takes to nightclubs and shopping malls.

McGraw also says Spears' dogs should be with her sons as they adjust to life with Federline.

He says "the companionship of beloved animals can make a world of difference for the kids during this obviously difficult time."

The most recent occurrences of Spears' meltdown have been as follows: Oct. 1, Spears is ordered to surrender custody of her children to ex-husband Kevin Federline. Superior Court Judge Scott M. Gordon ruled that Federline will take custody of Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 3, "until further order of the court."

On Oct. 3, A Los Angeles court commissioner grants Britney Spears some visitation
rights, but does not reverse a previous order giving temporary custody of sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, to their father, Federline.
