Pence Not Endorsing Boehner

Rep. Mike Pence wants to clear up any confusion out there: He's not endorsing Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) for minority leader.

“I want this to be very clear, because there has been some confusion,” Pence told CNSNews.com. “I have not endorsed John Boehner, and if he draws a conservative opponent, he knows that I will not endorse him in that race.”

Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said his boss was aware of Pence's (non-)stance. "Mr. Pence and Mr. Boehner have discussed it and Mr. Boehner is aware of Mr. Pence’s position," he said.

That doesn't mean, however, that Pence is all that angry with Boehner. “In the last two years I found consistent support of the conservative initiatives that I and other Republican Study Committee members were presenting in the House,” Pence said. “I saw John Boehner lead the [Republican] conference very effectively, preventing a precipitous withdrawal from Iraq from passing through the House, supporting our efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, and supporting the gas price protests."
