Pegg, Cho Join New "Star Trek" Cast
J.J. Abrams has added to the crew who will be going where no man has gone before in the next "Star Trek" film.
StarTrek.com reports that British actor Simon Pegg will play Scotty and, according to the Hollywood Reporter, "Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle" star John Cho will play Sulu.
"Sulu's in good hands," George Takei, who played the original Sulu, told StarTrek.com. "John Cho is an exciting actor. I've seen Cho in many productions at East West Players and he always brings a vigorous sense of individuality to his roles. Under the leadership of J.J. Abrams, the 'Star Trek' franchise is being infused with new energy and I hope John Cho plays a critical part for many years -- and films -- to come."
Known for his comedic roles in "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz," Pegg also appeared as the technical wizard "Benji" in Abrams' hit "Mission: Impossible III."

The actors join Leonard Nimoy, Zachary Quinto, Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana and -- just announced yesterday -- Eric Bana in the upcoming film.
With Abrams in the director's chair, the as-yet-untitled project begins shooting next month, for release on Christmas 2008.
