Paulson Meets With Senate GOP

Fresh from his appearance at the Senate Banking Committee, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson met with Senate Republicans at their weekly policy lunch Tuesday afternoon.

Paulson briefed lawmakers on the administration's proposed $700 bailout for roughly 20 minutes.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said senators raised "lots of questions" with the secretary but said it was "good discussion" with lots of suggestions made.

Specifically, GOP senators expressed their desire to see limits on executive compensation included in the package, which Paulson and the administration have so far resisted.
