Pa. man killed wife, self on Christmas, police say

(AP) MAHANOY CITY, Pa. - Police in northeast Pennsylvania say a couple is dead after an apparent murder-suicide on Christmas Day.

Authorities believe 37-year-old Richard Weikel fatally shot his wife during an argument and then called an ex-wife to say he couldn't spend his life in prison.

The ex-wife reportedly alerted police around 1:20 a.m., who then arrived to find both Weikel and his 28-year-old wife, Stephanie, dead in the kitchen of their Mahanoy City apartment.

Authorities in Schuylkill County say they found three weapons on the scene, a handgun and two long rifles. 

Authorities believe Weikel fatally shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself.
