Oliver Stone likens Blake Lively to Grace Kelly

(CBS News) Oliver Stone likened "Gossip Girl" Blake Lively - who plays a girlfriend to two men in his latest movie - to film great Grace Kelly.

He said on "CBS This Morning," (Lively has) kind of a Grace Kelly...cool elegance." He said, "(She's) blond and beautiful. Good to the eye. I always try to cast pretty people, good looking people."

In Stone's new thriller, "Savages," Lively appears with an all-star ensemble cast that also includes Taylor Kitsch, John Travolta, Benicio Del Toro, and Salma Hayek.

"Savages" tells the story of two California marijuana dealers who get mixed up with a drug cartel.

The director known for movies such as "Wall Street," "Platoon" and "Born on the Fourth of July" said Lively's character - like all the characters in the film - goes through her own journey. "(The characters) change. You know, you never know what you expect. That's true about life in general. Blake Lively is this beach bunny at the beginning, a little bit stoned. By the time the movie is over, boy, she goes through a trip and she's twisted around on all her thoughts."
