Ohio woman charged in gagging granddaughter with underwear

NEW STRAITSVILLE, Ohio – A grandmother in southeast Ohio was arrested Wednesday for allegedly gagging her 11-year-old granddaughter with soiled men’s underwear.

Hocking County Sgt. Ed Downs said it was “the most disgusting, heinous” case of child abuse he’d ever encountered, reports The Columbus Dispatch.

The 54-year-old New Straitsville woman was taken into custody Wednesday after an older granddaughter took secret video of the alleged abuse on her cell phone, says Downs.

In the video, the woman forces underwear soiled with feces into the mouth of her 11-year-old granddaughter. She secures the underwear with tape, and when the girl vomits her grandmother tells her to swallow it.

The unusual abuse was reportedly punishment after the girl stepped on her grandmother’s injured foot.

The woman is being held with a $1 million bond on charges including kidnapping and endangering children.
