President Obama met with FIFA president Sepp Blatter (left) at the White House for thirty minutes today, urging Blatter "to give strong consideration to the US bid to host the World Cup in either 2018 or 2022," according to the White House.

"The President also thanked Mr. Blatter for the soccer balls that he brought with him as gift for the President's soccer-playing daughters," the White House said.

The two men discussed the possibility of Mr. Obama attending the World Cup in South Africa in 2010, with Blatter again extending an invitation to the president.

"You know, I hope to," the president said following the meeting, according to the Associated Press. "We're going to take a look at the schedule."

The AP reports that Blatter told reporters after the meeting that the president also showed off a bit, bouncing a soccer ball on his foot and "making two, three movements, and then he took it to his head."

While Blatter complimented the president's moves, he quipped Mr. Obama is not quite ready to play for the U.S. in international competition.
