NYPD blows up 5,000 pounds of fireworks

(CBS) - So last weekend was all about fireworks. But let's not forget, depending on where you live fireworks may be illegal. New York state, for example, has a ban on unauthorized fireworks. Every year, thousands of pounds of illegal fireworks are seized and disposed of. Ironically, the way to dispose of fireworks is to blow them up. Let's watch the New York police department "dispose" of 5,000 pounds of fireworks!

Awesome! It's almost as entertaining as an actual fireworks show. You've got to imagine that the police officer who draws firework duty is having a pretty fun day.
