New Anti-Iraq War Ads Up Against Vulnerable Senators

The umbrella anti-war organization Americans Against Escalation in Iraq is launching a new ad featuring children in combat fatigues to pressure Sens. Norm Coleman (R-Minn), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Pete Domenici (R-N.M.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to “bring the troops home.”

The group said the ads will be airing for the next ten days in major markets in the senators’ four home states.

The ads show young children performing boot camp-like activities. In the background, the narrator recounts the senators’ votes “wasting 450 billion dollars… on an endless religious civil war.”

“How long will Senator Norm Coleman keep us stuck in Iraq? Should we start training our children now?” the narrator asks in the ad against Coleman. “Tell Senator Coleman. It’s time to bring our troops home. So our kids won’t have to fight an endless civil war too.”
