McCaskill To Speak At Democratic National Convention

She's been one of Barack Obama's biggest surrogates and his national campaign co-chair.

Now, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) will help Obama kick off the Democratic National Convention in Denver on August 25th, the senator's aides confirmed on Wednesday.

McCaskill is expected to speak to a prime-time audience at the convention, the aides said.

The freshman senator has played a major role in Obama's campaign, regularly appearing on the cable news networks and introducing Obama at a string of campaign rallies.

McCaskill also helped secure a number of superdelegates to help Obama become the presumptive Democratic nominee in June.

The senator  will be in good company. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Craig Robinson, Obama's brother in law, are also slated to speak on the same night. Robinson, will introduce Michelle Obama, who will be the evening's headline speaker.
