McCain Stands Firm On Iraq

After wrapping up his eighth trip to Iraq, presumptive Republican nominee John McCain told reporters in Amman, Jordan it would be a mistake to embark on a quick pullout of U.S. troops there. "We were very encouraged by the success of the surge and the
reduction in U.S. casualties," McCain said after talking with military leaders in Iraq. "We are succeeding, but we still have a long way to go."

McCain may be out of the country but President Bush is doing his part for the cause back home. CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller reports that the president will appear at two fundraisers for the Republican National Committee in Florida today and is expected to raise a little over $1.4 million. Knoller reports that so far this year, Bush has raised about $27.5 million at 12 events. Look for that figure to grow throughout the spring and summer.
