John McCain at Sturgis?

The presumptive Republican candidate hopes to add his name to the list of motorcycle icons when stops by the world's largest biker rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, later today.

He will participate in the Buffalo Chip campground's annual Tribute to American Veterans and Active Duty Servicemen this evening, speaking to the many veterans and soldiers that take part in the annual Sturgis Bike Week.

While McCain may not don leather chaps and hop on a hog, his Secret Service agents might, according to the campground owner.

"Some of the Secret Service agents are bikers and have come to the Chip over the years," Rod Woodruff told the Argus Leader. "One of the agents yesterday told me he rode his Harley out in 1996, 2002 and 2004. He heard McCain was going to be here, and he immediately volunteered to be on staff for this event."

Maybe he can convince the candidate to go for a spin, or at least ride along in the sidecar.
