"Massive freaking creature": Ore. teen calls 911 over "giant spider," report says

We're not saying this spider is just like the "massive freaking creature" that prompted an Oregon teen to call 911; we just don't know Dan Kitwood/Getty Images

(CBS) FOREST GROVE, Ore. - A panicked teen in Oregon called 911 earlier this month to report "a giant spider" crawling on her couch, CBS Seattle reports.

The unnamed teen referred to the spider as a "massive freaking creature," according to the 911 call obtained by the station.

"I'm home alone and there is a giant spider on the back of my couch, and I'm talking giant," the teen is heard saying in the call. "I've never seen a spider this big and I have no idea what to do."

The station reports the 911 operator ultimately sent a Forest Grove police officer to the residence, although authorities note it is not standard protocol to do so.

The responding officer killed the spider, estimated at about two inches in diameter, with a newspaper, the station reports.

Proving newspapers can still be put to good use.
