Marion Raven: Heads Will Turn

It's hard to believe that the same woman who can write a lyric like "I'll swallow you whole, then spit out your soul" could be so, well, sweet. But when Marion Raven walked into TheShowbuzz.com studios for our interview, her girlish speaking voice and gentle smile told me she wasn't the same angry rock chick I had seen in the video for her song "Heads Will Roll."

"The song is written together with Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx," Raven explained. "I went to L.A. in 2004 and I had this relationship gone bad and I was very angry."

Straight outta Lerenskog, Norway, the 22-year-old singer got her start in the multi-platinum pop duo M2M while she was still in her teens.

Her first solo album, "Here I Am," was released in Norway in August 2005, and the title track reached the No. 1 spot in Japan and Indonesia as well as No. 9 in her home country.

Now she's looking to make her debut in the American market with the six-song EP "Heads Will Roll," set for release on Oct. 24.

The

features Raven lying atop a pile of half-naked women. Raven noted that male rockers have plenty of beautiful women in their videos, so she thought it would be interesting to do the same thing in hers.

"The song is a very sexy song and I wanted it to show in the video," she added.

Raven also duets with legendary rocker Meat Loaf on his recent cover of "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" from his upcoming "Bat Out Of Hell 3." The song was a huge hit for Celine Dion in 1996, when Raven was still a little girl.

"I used to listen to Celine Dion over and over and practice singing the high notes," said Raven. "So when I went in the studio I knew the song by heart, I knew the lyrics, and I just loved singing it."

Raven plans to release a full album of her songs in 2007.
