Madonna: Self-Affleck-ted Wound

Madonna says Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck share some blame for the excessive media attention that caused them to postpone their wedding last month.

"Well, to a certain extent, they courted the media attention," Madonna told Pat O'Brien on "Access Hollywood" in an interview that aired Thursday. "At the end of the day I feel like that's their job, and then there needs to be a part of the relationship that you keep private." Excerpts of the interview were released in advance.

The 45-year-old pop star, who is married to film director Guy Ritchie, says it can be challenging to have a personal life while in the public eye.

"You know, I'm not making a judgment call on Jennifer and Ben ... we can only make assumptions about why it did or didn't happen," she said.

"Ultimately, if you have a strong relationship, and there is understanding of what a committed marriage is, I don't think that having a lot of media attention can break it up."

Entertainment Tonight reports that, after spending some time alone together, Affleck and Lopez are back at work. Affleck will star in Jerry Bruckheimer's "Glory Road," about the first college basketball coach to bring an all-black team to the NCAA championships. Lopez will star in "Dance Lessons," described as a cross between "Footloose" and "The Full Monty."

Madonna also discussed the possibility of turning at least one of her planned five children's books into an animated film.

"Yes, I would like to make at least one animated film out of one of the stories," she said.

But when asked if her 7-year-old daughter, Lourdes, would have a starring role in any on-air project related to her books, Madonna immediately replied: "Absolutely not."
