Landrieu Praises Byrd

Sen. Mary Landrieu is the first out of the gate with a statement praising outgoing Appropriations Committee Chairman Robert C. Byrd.

“Senator Byrd’s tenure as Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee has been but one illustration of his knowledgeable leadership in the Senate, rooted in profound patriotism and a deep commitment to serving the people of our nation," said Landrieu. "He has been a strong partner and champion of Louisiana and her needs, particularly in the wake of the storms and floods that have ravaged our state in recent years."

“Most recently, Senator Byrd steadfastly stood by us as the White House pressured the House of Representatives to shortchange Louisiana’s ongoing recovery. I look forward to continuing to work with Senator Byrd on the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee; and on a personal note, offer him my heartfelt congratulations on his upcoming 91st birthday.”
