Lady Gaga announces "ARTPOP" details

Lady Gaga announced Friday that her new album, "ARTPOP," will drop on Nov. 11.

However, Gaga's Little Monsters will get a taste of the singer's new music a lot sooner than that, as the album's lead single will surface on Aug. 19, with album pre-orders beginning Sept. 1.

"'ARTPOP' musically mirrors Gaga's creative process as she passes through the medium of each artist she collaborates with, scoring a blueprint on her journey," a statement explained. "The result, a 'rage' of electronic passion and fury, defining each artistic process from beginning to end, 'ARTPOP' could mean anything."

An app will accompany the release where users can share in the pop star's "adrenaline of fame" by building and sharing their own projects and chatting with one another. Built by TechHAUS, it's described as a "visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion and technology with a new interactive worldwide community -- 'the auras.'" The app strives to alter "the human experience with social media," by bringing "ARTculture into POP in a reverse Warholian expedition."

Gaga is describing the album release date as the "BIG BANG!" -- a day in which she hopes "to bring the music industry into a new age; an age where art drives pop and the artist once again is in control of the 'icon.'" Fans may also want to mark Nov. 10 on their calendars, that's when Lady Gaga will host an evening of "artRave," feature HAUS OF GAGA projects and collaborations with Inez & Vinoodh, Robert Wilson, Marina Abramovic and Jeff Koons.

Between the "fury," "auras" and "BIG BANG!" -- there's a lot of excitement, hype and even mystery surrounding Lady Gaga's third release. But knowing Gaga, she wouldn't have it any other way.
