Keoghan's Heroes: Panama Hat Makers

Panama hats don't really come from Panama, any more than Guniea Pigs come from Guinea.

They come from central Ecuador.

They simply got misnamed when Teddy Roosevelt was seen sporting them down at the Panama Canal.

Once Hollywood became infatuated, Panama's ascended to the very symbol of style and glamour.

Phil Koeghan visited Ecuador to get the lowdown on Panama hat production.

In America, they sell for as much as $5,000.
