Katie Couric's Notebook: Internet Addicts

How did you sleep last night? Did you get 40 winks? Or was it more like 40 tweets?

According to a survey by a consumer electronics website, almost half of young Americans and a third of internet users over 25 check Facebook or Twitter if they wake up at night ... and that's not all.

40 percent of social networkers don't mind being interrupted during dinner and seven percent would even take a break from sex to glance at an update.

Ex-queeze me?

These sites have become the place to be on-line for so many around the world. Facebook recently outpaced Google's traffic for the first time - but with 18 percent of those under 25 admitting they can't go more than a couple of hours without checking in there's growing concern about yes, internet addiction.

If you have a little trouble falling asleep, there is nothing wrong with counting sheep.

Just make sure they're not from Farmville.

That's a page from my notebook.

I'm Katie Couric, CBS News.
