(CBS) Jennifer Lopez is explaining why she broke down in tears during a performance on Saturday night.

Reports said that Lopez sang a song during the show while dancers resembling her exes reenacted scenes from her love life. When she finished, she told the crowd, "I took a trip down memory lane," and then started to cry as the audience cheered.

"I'm just a regular person like everybody else. I have feelings and emotions," the singer told "Extra" after the show. "My life goes great, and it goes not great sometimes. But you know what? We keep going, and that's what it is."

Lopez, 42, added that seeing her mother in the audience brought up extra emotions.

"I didn't see her the whole time, until this one moment, and I was a little bit emotional," she said.

She also told "Extra" that she wanted to do the reenactment number - which featured a Lopez lookalike dancing with men who looked like exes Diddy, Ben Affleck, Cris Judd and Marc Anthony - to "do a section of the show that talked about love...and different moments in my life."
