Isaak: Mood Music for Movies

By now the moviegoing public is familiar with a certain image from the movie Eyes Wide Shut: Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, sans clothing, nuzzling in front of a mirror. What viewers may not know is the music in the background is a song by Chris Isaak titled "Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing."

Actually, reports CBS This Morning Co-Anchor Mark McEwen, Kidman did a good, good thing for Isaak when she brought his song to the attention of director Stanley Kubrick. She played the song to get in the mood for her love scene, and Kubrick liked it so much that he decided to use it on the soundtrack.

Isaak says he thinks he knows why.

"It grinds," says Isaak. "That's what most filmmakers look for, music you can grind to. I thinkÂ…it has that element."

Isaak bumps and grinds himself in the video for Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing, directed by Herb Ritts.

"I'm a guy with lots of energy," he says. "But the kind of overtly sexual energy portrayed like that, it is always a little embarrassing to me."

This isn't the first time an Isaak song got a new lease on life thanks to a movie. His song "Wicked Game," previously recorded, became a new hit after it was featured in the David Lynch movie Wild at Heart.
