Internal Focus Group Loved McCain's Oil Talk

A GOP source in the McCain-Palin camp offers this insight, gleaned from dial focus groups conducted during John McCain's big speech last night.

The most positive response from a mixed voter group?

Not the Hanoi Hilton section, which had the St. Paul faithful in tears, or the Sarah Palin huzzah.

It was this populist broadside about developing an energy policy to cut dependence on foreign oil -- which could have been delivered by any Democrat:

"My fellow Americans, when I'm president, we're going to embark on the most ambitious national project in decades. We're going to stop sending $700 billion a year to countries that don't like us very much."
