Hoyer 'not Pleased' With Tax Extenders

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said Wednesday morning he was “not particularly pleased” that the Senate has decided to add a set of tax breaks to the bailout package.

"There's no doubt the tax package is very controversial," he said on NBC’s “The Today Show.”

Hoyer said the addition of the tax breaks “may” cause some Democratic defections on the bill.

However, House Minority Whip Roy Blunt said on the program that other changes to the bill may help garner more votes. Blunt said he will be "checking" today to see if any House Republicans have changed their minds.

Hoyer predicted the bill would pass the Senate on Wednesday, while Blunt said he expected the House to take up the measure before the end of the week.
