Emmy Award-winner Toni Collette stars as Dr. Ellen Sanders, a D.C. surgeon who becomes embroiled in a vast conspiracy when a group of rogue FBI agents present her with an ultimatum. She can either assassinate the president while performing scheduled surgery on him or watch her husband (Tate Donovan) and kids get killed.

"Hostages" is based on a hit Israeli series and was adapted for U.S. TV by executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

In addition to Collette and Donovan, Golden Globe-winner Dylan McDermott co-stars in the American adaptation as Duncan Carlisle, one of the agents holding Sanders' family captive.

"The script I thought was brilliant. There were so many characters of good people who were bad people, and bad people who were good people, and you know it was all convoluted and mixed up and exciting," McDermott told CBS News.

The "Hostages" season finale will air Monday, Jan. 6, at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
