Army Secretary Thomas White is honoring those who displayed courage during the Pentagon attack.
He's saluting the soldiers and civilians who risked their own lives to save others on September eleventh. White says they demonstrated the ideals that make America a beacon of hope.
He says their courage and celebration of life also are demonstrated every day by those in uniform who go in harm's way. And he insists that's why America will prevail in the war against the terrorists responsible for the attack.
The Army secretary vows that U.S. forces will be "strong in spirit, decisive in action and certain in victory."
He spoke at an awards ceremony in Fort Myer, Virginia.
