On his Web site, Walter Koenig or his staff, wrote that Walter Koenig received a letter from his son on Feb. 16 in which the young actor seemed "despondent." He was last seen Feb. 14 at a bakery in the Stanley Park area of Vancouver, the site said and had given away "a number of his possessions" before he left.

The site also said that Walter Koenig learned his son "wasn't going to work anymore" and Walter Koenig told KABC that his son had "been depressed."

"You know, he's trying to get ahead in this business and he's been working at it a long time," he told the station.

Vancouver police say the 41-year-old Koenig "has recently been despondent and his family and friends are concerned for his well-being."

He was supposed to board an airplane on Feb. 16, but never got on, according to his father's Web site.

Koenig lives in Venice, California, but at one time lived in Vancouver. His father, Walter Koenig, played Chekov on the "Star Trek" television series and movies.

On the 1980s sitcom "Growing Pains" Andrew Koenig played "Boner," a pal of star Kirk Cameron's character Mike.
