Early Third Quarter House Fundraising Numbers
Third-quarter House fundraising numbers are beginning to pour in -- here are early numbers of note:
-- Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Fla.), readying for a competitive reelection campaign, nearly doubled his fundraising numbers from last quarter. He raised $324,000 for the quarter, his highest haul since he was first elected.
-- Naval reserve officer Pete Olson, who most recently served as chief of staff to Sen. Jon Cornyn (R-Tex.), raised over $211,000 in the bid for the seat held by Rep. Nick Lampson (D-Tex.).
There's a crowded field for the GOP nomination in this conservative suburban Houston seat, but Olson’s solid fundraising numbers position him as a credible candidate.
-- Rep. Steve LaTourette (R-Ohio) may be facing his best funded-challenger in a while. Former Appeals Court Judge Bill O’Neill raised over $100,000 this quarter, better than previous Democratic challengers. But he’ll need to improve on that pace to mount a well-funded campaign in a district that covers the expensive Cleveland media market.
-- Physicist Bill Foster (D), running to succeed the retiring Rep. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.), raised at least $209,000 and loaned his campaign an additional $200,000. The vast majority of his individual donations came from scientists and engineers.
