Drunk driving suspect blames his grandma for crash
(CBS/AP) ROCHESTER, Pa. - Police say a western Pennsylvania man tried to blame his drunk-driving crash on his grandmother.
She, however, wasn't anywhere near the scene.
Rochester police were called to a convenience store on March 2 after witnesses saw John Ventresca Jr. pull into a parking lot after striking other cars and hitting a pole in front of the store.
When police arrived, they say Ventresca, of Center Township, told them his grandma had been driving and that she was using the store's restroom. He explained "her" erratic driving by saying the woman had a broken shoulder and was taking pain pills.
Police charged Ventresca, 22, after finding his grandmother wasn't in the rest room - or anywhere else in the vicinity.
He faces a preliminary hearing Tuesday on drunken driving and other charges.
Let's see who shows up.
