Doherty: Friends Want Him To Kick Habit

Pete Doherty says people close to him want him to kick his addiction to drugs.

"The people I'm closest to have had enough. They've said it's drugs or them," the Babyshambles frontman said Wednesday at a court appearance to review his progress in complying with a treatment order.

"A lot has changed in the past week," Doherty added.

He didn't say whether the change involved his relationship with supermodel Kate Moss, 33, or had anything to do with his April 12 concert appearance with Carl Barat, his former partner in The Libertines.

At the same concert, Doherty referred to Moss as his fiancée.

Appearing before District Judge Jane McIvor at Thames Magistrates' Court, Doherty indicated he still wasn't clean.

"I'm quite keen to show a negative test as soon as possible really," Doherty said.

The judge commented that Doherty, who arrived 30 minutes late, was under no obligation to appear.

"There's no obligation for you to turn up to the reviews. The fact you've turned up shows cooperation more than cooperation and there is no risk of you breaching this order."

Doherty's battle with drug addiction has been lived in the public eye through countless media reports. He has repeatedly sought treatment for addiction.
