Not long after Politico released its interview with Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) , the top Republican on the House Homeland Security Comittee, the Democratic National Committee attacked King's comment that "there are too many mosques in this country."
"Congressman King's comments are deplorable and he should apologize immediately," said DNC press secretary Stacie Paxton. "This type of bigoted language has no place in public discourse."
The DNC went one step further, calling on GOP presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani to dump King as his campaign's homeland security advisor.
In a follow-up statement, King said his comments were taken out of context, so Politico posted the entire exchange here.
