Democratic Agenda 2000

President Clinton and Democratic Congressional leaders, including Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota and House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt of Missouri, are meeting Wednesday afternoon to discuss the party's legislative agenda for 2000.

And, according to a White House statement, education will top the list of Democratic priorities in this presidential election year.

A new school modernization plan is at the top of the Democratic wish list; as well as proposals for targeted tax cuts, Medicare reform, gun control, raising the minimum wage and hate crimes legislation.
