Dem Recruits On Capitol Hill For Meetings
Six of the Democrats’ top House recruits are on Capitol Hill today for a series of meetings with party leadership and third-party groups.
The candidates in town are: Christine Jennings, running against Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.); state senator John Unger, running against Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.); former Hill staffer Dan Maffei, running against Rep. Jim Walsh (R-N.Y.); former Microsoft executive Darcy Burner, running against Rep. Dave Reichert (R-Wash.); retired Naval officer Eric Massa, running against Rep. Randy Kuhl (R-N.Y.) and Internet executive Gary Trauner, running against Rep. Barbara Cubin (R-Wyo.).
All the candidates are presently running unopposed for the nomination. This is the second wave of Democratic candidates to come to Washington for meetings: in July, several other candidates came to Washington for similar meetings.
The six candidates also will be briefing party leadership on the state of their campaigns so far.
