DA: DNA Evidence Links CA Killer To 4 More Murders

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A former pizza deliveryman already on California's death row after being convicted of murdering 10 women and an unborn child was charged with four more slayings dating back to the mid-1980s.

DNA evidence linked Chester Turner to the four additional murders, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Turner, 44, will be returned from state prison to face the new charges, but an arraignment date hasn't been set.

Turner was sentenced to death in 2007 for murders committed over an 11-year period in Los Angeles.

The four killings detailed in the new charges occurred between 1987 and 1997, and included the 1992 slaying of Mary Edwards and the 1997 death of Cynthia Johnson. All four victims were strangled.

David Allen Jones was convicted of killing Edwards, but further DNA testing excluded him from the murder. He was freed from prison in 2004.

Another man was charged with Johnson's murder but the case was later dismissed after DNA evidence showed Turner was the killer, prosecutors said.
