Clyburn Warns McCain Visit Would Bring Unnecessary `drama¿

House Majority Whip James Clyburn told Politico Wednesday afternoon he does not see the value in Sen. John McCain's returning to the Senate to work on proposed bailout legislation.

“I don’t see anything positive about this,” Clyburn said. “I think this is more drama. What we need now is more study. I believe that if Senator McCain really wanted to contribute to this, he would have ordered his staff to have engaged with the other staffs working on this.”

Clyburn also questioned McCain’s call to suspend Friday night’s presidential debate, which will focus on foreign policy.

“He and Obama should have changed the subject matter for the Friday night debate, so the American people can get a good idea how they would respond to a crisis, especially one like this.”
