Clinton Criticizes CIA

From CBS News' Fernando Suarez

WILLIAMSBURG, IOWA -- Senator Hillary Clinton said the Bush Administration's "incompetence" has led to the recent scandal involving taped interrogations of two detainees being distributed by the Central Intelligence Agency. The nation's top spy, CIA director Michael Hayden, said he had the tapes destroyed in order to protect the identity of the interrogators. However, CBS News has been told the video tapes were destroyed in order to avoid criminal prosecution of those involved.

"Everyday that goes by something new happens," said Mrs. Clinton. "Well the latest is the CIA destroying tapes of interrogations. They were told not to, they went ahead and did it anyway...time after time after time we see either incompetence or corruption."

Following her speech, Clinton hosted an impromptu media availability with the traveling press where she said she is calling for an investigation.
