Charlie Sheen joins Twitter, amasses followers

There is a strong connection between drug abuse and bipolar disorder, a condition marked by intense highs (periods of mania) and potentially suicidal lows. Both addiction and drug abuse can be exacerbated by psychological stress. And the use of illicit drugs, including cocaine, can trigger symptoms of bipolar disorder, a.k.a. manic depression.

(CBS) In the midst of his media blitz, Charlie Sheen has turned to another platform to share his thoughts with the world.

The "Two and a Half Men" star joined Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, and even though he hasn't posted a single message, the number of users following him has exploded.

As of this writing, he has already amassed more than 125,000 followers. When we checked again a few minutes later, it had shot to more than 136,000.

And the account is the real deal - it has the website's official "Verified Account" badge.
